For those of you who have mastered the art of walking and reading and are looking for a greater challenge, you may want to try the Archive II:
“a circular library for the nomad book collector, allowing the user to step inside, and walk away with half a ton of books” created by David Garcia Studio.
This is a fantastic alternative to a Kindle or iPad, and I would love to see someone rolling down the street in it!
Haha! I would not hesitate to roll down the street with this. Or anywhere else, for that matter!
It would be great, wouldn’t it? 🙂
A literary hamster wheel! Wunderbar 🙂 thanks for stopping by my Room With A View Post.
Happy Pages,

I completely agree, although hopefully less frustrating 🙂 (Sorry for the late response, your comment got caught in my spam file for some reason!)
I can’t help but hum Monty Python’s Spam song whenever I hear spam 🙂
Now it’s in MY head!!! 🙂
I wonder if our students have ever had to actually eat spam so they understand why spam is called spam? 🙂
Could be an interesting homework assignment!
I thought the same! Just needs wall mounting and it would be suitable for human exercise!
Ha! 🙂
That’s actually quite stylish looking. Want one for my house!
I agree, it’s so beautiful! If you go to the artist’s website, you can see other book related pieces he’s done that are quite interesting too.
I’m putting this on my christmas wish list
Best Christmas gift EVER 🙂 (although would be hard to wrap!)
Fun image. I could never walk in that!
I agree, it would be tricky!
Looks like fun, but a hazard to other pedestrians!
I agree; I wouldn’t want someone rolling down the sidewalk with that behind me although I’d love to walk alongside and look at their library 🙂
I would end up reading the same book over and over again ( I am a terribly slow reader ) 😛
But really… what a creative idea this really is 🙂
I agree, so creative, and so beautiful, no?
My question is… what if your books don’t perfectly squeeze into the shelf?!? And also… all your cool book-ends won’t be useful anymore!
hahaha, I hadn’t thought of that! I guess you have to buy perfectly evenly sized books (and maybe glue your bookends to the shelves?) 🙂
I’ve never understood how people can walk and read at the same time. How do they not run into things?
I know, I always have to look up from the book to make sure I’m not going to hit anything and can never get into the book… they must be superhuman 🙂
how would he make a turn? **just curious 😉 what an invention!
Ha! I never even thought of that!
I can see it now: I’d take two steps, somehow careen sideways, and spill all my books all over the place. I don’t think I’d walk in it, but maybe I could use it more like a wheel of chance and spin it to choose the next book to read. I love the way it looks.
I like the idea of using it as a wheel of chance to choose which book to read next, very nice! If you go to the artist’s website, you can see that it’s also used as a reading seat, which is quite cozy too!
I think this would be dificult because of all the weight, our perhaps it helps the wheel roll 🙂
It would probably help, you’re right, until you get to a hill! Can you imagine 🙂
If I got to a hill I would die 😛 I would be so afraid, jump of and let my books go to hell 😛
hahaha, me too! Or just hang on tight!!
How about having some space for some yarn, cookies and a stable cup holder for coffee? I will be able to live in it!
That sounds very cozy indeed! 🙂

Love it!
Great, isn’t it? 🙂
I’d put it up on rollers and use it for exercise. Kinda like a gerbil wheel. Walking and reading in place!
A t-readmill, what a great idea, Tom! 🙂
Oh, that’s so good you should trademark it!
🙂
What a great photo! Do you think it would inspire the user to adopt a carnival-wheel style approach to reading? Just pull off whatever is at arm height and dig in!
I definitely think it would encourage this kind of random book selection – a sort of ‘spin the wheel’ library 🙂
I definitely think it would encourage this kind of random book selection – a sort of ‘spin the wheel’ library 🙂 (oh, and thanks for taking my reading questionnaire – I appreciate it!)
What a great idea. I live in rural Thailand- where tech stuff is a bit behind and I go into Bangkok and watch these people walking around with what looks like an old school writing tablet. I just think– looking off from the side– Someone just tricked the heck out of a lot of people. Give me a paperback.
hahaha, that’s so funny! It’s so true, they do look like old school writing tablets… not so modern after all 🙂
Much better than driving and reading, which I saw the other day. A man in a pick up truck, reading the Bible…
driving and reading…. oh dear!
That looks great! My only worry would be seeing the way in front of me while rolling around in that, haha.
You know, it’s so strange, I hadn’t even thought of that!!
I still haven’t mastered the art of walking and reading without bumping, banging or hurting someone else!! 😉 This is really one lovely blog for all the “book-dragons” like me!! Thank you for all those lovely posts!! 🙂
You’re most welcome! I appreciate your kind words, especially from a fellow bibliophile 🙂
How fun! There is a man in my neighborhood who walks his two dogs and reads at the same time. I just couldn’t do it.
Having had two dogs as a child, I know how easy it is to get the leashed tangled up, so adding the complication of holding a book in one hand and avoiding hitting into things…. I am quite impressed by your neighbor!
I don’t know if you get into the awards on wordpress or not, but I nominated your blog for an award– More info can be found here: http://hearingwiththeeye.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/one-lovely-blog-award-nomination/. Enjoy the day & keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! As I just received an award, I have to pass on this one, but I really appreciate the kind thoughts 🙂
Wonderfully creative!
Thanks; I wish I could take credit for all the wonderful photos but it was a lot of fun searching for them!
Where can i get one! lol
I know! Plus, it’s so beautiful!
Agreed! 🙂
